What is it? Properties Applications

Nituff^® is a new surface treatment that dramatically enhances the properties of a hard anodize coating. This proprietary process penetrates PTFE (Teflon^®) into a precision hard anodize coating to achieve a self-curing, self-lubricating surface with low friction, high corrosion resistance, and dielectric properties superior to ordinary hard anodize.

• High corrosion resistance: Corrosion resistance of Nituff^® will vary with the aluminum alloy, surface finish and coating thickness. A 50 micron Nituff^® coating, on 6061 aluminum alloy, will withstand over 2000 hours of a 5% salt spray test per ASTM B-117.
• Lubricity: Nituff^® provides a self-lubricated surface which can be used with or without other lubricates. The coefficient of friction will depend on the surface finish before processing, but the Nituff^® coating will provide a significantly lower figure than ordinary hard anodize on a give surface.
• Abrasion resistance: Nituff^® has been shown to outwear other commercially available coatings on aluminum. This has been confirmed by Tabor wear test per method 6192 of Federal test Method Standard No. 141 as well as by actual results experienced in applications the past 30 years.
• Dielectric properties: Nituff^® improved the dielectric properties of an ordinary hard anodized coating. The breakdown voltage exceeds 2000 volts when tested by ASTM B-110.
• Hardness: The Nituff^® surface exceeds 62 Rc (500 Hv) which is harder than file hard steel.
• Temperature: Nituff^® will withstand a temperature range of -200 to 350 ºC.

• Meets USDA requirements for food contact.
• Helps avoid the sticking of product to component.
• Nituff^® will significantly reduce fingerprints and stains on component.
• Nituff^® can be dyed black for highly cosmetic applications.
